This position also serves as backup for the Development Assistant.
- Provide customer service at the front counter and via telephone. Customer service includes responding to inquiries on behalf of the municipality for the functions and responsibilities related to this position.
- Review and issue permits across all Safety Codes disciplines.
- Enter, update, and maintain all associated data within the permitting system.
- Coordinate and schedule inspections, ensuring compliance with Safety Codes processes and timelines.
- Administer the complete rural addressing program, including updating the sign database, creating and assigning new rural addresses, and coordinating signage.

Key Responsibilities:
*Follow all company, client and regulatory OH&S requirements including safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions. Participate in job planning/tailboards, safety meetings, worksite inspections and participate in incident investigations and corrective actions.
*Oversee daily operations including planning, scheduling for the install, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution systems including overhead and underground power lines and cables, erection of pole systems, insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers, street lighting and other associated equipment, including termination.
*Lead and mentor a team of PLT’s and Apprentices by supporting training, competency assessments, and career development.
*Participate in pre‑bid walk downs, and post‑award field visits to assess site conditions, access constraints, material requirements, and constructability.
*Provide technical input during tender preparation, including realistic labour production rates, equipment needs, crew sizing, and sequencing.
*Review drawings, specifications, switching orders, system maps and client documents to validate constructability and installation approach.
*Supporting change management by identifying scope variations and assisting with documentation for change orders.
*Acting as a technical liaison between field crews and the Estimator / Project Manager during project startup and execution ensuring timely execution of projects.
*Provide technical expertise in live line work, powerline construction, troubleshooting and infrastructure upgrades.
*Work with various types of heavy equipment including aerial booms, diggers (RDB), backhoes, trackhoes, nodwells, tension stringing equipment, and skid steers. Maintain and operate company vehicles and equipment responsibly.

Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum 10+ years of experience in powerline construction (overhead and/or underground) in an equivalent position
Experience in estimating and/or project management
Strong understanding of powerline construction methods and utility standards
Ability and willingness to perform field work and coordinate with parallel project teams, including the Underground Division
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Proficiency with Excel and construction estimating/project management software
Valid driver’s license
Must be able to attain clearances for Defence Canada
Preferred:
Journeyman Powerline Technician (PLT)
Construction Management or Engineering diploma / degree
Gold Seal, PMI, or equivalent certification
Alberta Utility experience

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

- Fit up and prepare piping requiring welded joints

Leadership & Supervision
