10:30 Funeral Mass (†) for Secondo Ferronato
Date:2025‑12‑23
Time:10:30am

Secondo Ferronato, beloved husband of Loretta Ferronato (nee Paolucci), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the age of 92 years.

Secondo came to Calgary, Canada, in 1956, to start a better life. He met the love of his life, Loretta, that same year when they began dating in March of 1959, and married later that year.

He worked in construction and built their first home from the ground up. Their second home was built in 1968 with the help of his brother Ciso. This was where Secondo and Loretta raised their four children, and where he spent his final moments.

He is survived by his loving wife Loretta, his son Gino (Sherry), his daughters, Maria and Michelle (Doug); his son Pierre (Megan), as well as his precious grandkids who meant the world to him, Austin, Colin, Ashley, Thomas, Nicholas, MJ, DJ, and JJ. He was predeceased by his younger brother Tarciso, his mother Libera-Tranquila, and his father Primo Gino Ferronato.

Secondo will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his passion and zest for life, and the many hours of stories he had to share. He had a love of fishing, gardening, and playing soccer. He was especially proud of the summer home he built in Halfmoon Bay, BC, with a beautiful view of the ocean. He didn’t have the heart to move anymore once his grandkids started to be born, and he wanted to be closer to them. What he loved most was to have family and friends around, sharing a glass of his homemade vino with salami and cheese, at the family table, he welcomed all, any day and any time. His whistling, smile, and his presence will be greatly missed every day.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street & Northmount Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB).
