Helen Mary Duncan (nee Haugh) Obituary
January 6, 1940 – January 23, 2026

Helen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Michael, and three daughters, Antoinette (Natalie and Matthew), Louise (Doug and sons, Aiden, Brendan, and Cian), and Michelle (Trevor and children, Ashlyn, Alexander, and Sinead); her great-grandchildren, Noah and Shaelyn; her siblings, Noel, Jean, and John; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Helen was born on January 6, 1940, in Dublin, Ireland, the eldest daughter of eight children. She took great pride in the care and dedication of helping to raise and support her younger siblings and sacrificed selflessly to improve her family’s health and wellbeing. In Dublin, she was a very talented and successful seamstress for many years, before embarking on an exciting, new adventure with Michael and their young family, moving to Canada in 1968. Helen continued to work in the textile industry in Calgary, AB, followed by many enjoyable years at the Calgary School Board, where she was a cherished employee and friend to many of her colleagues.

She was a loving wife and mother, a dependable provider, and a strongly spirited, proud woman. She was a devout Catholic who believed prayer was a vessel to peace and forgiveness; a conviction we know will guide her to her journey beyond our earthly world. Helen loved her family dearly and we will truly miss her tenacious spirit and intense passion. A passion that we were blessed to bear witness to and a love that we were so fortunate to experience and that will remain in our hearts forever.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (404 Northmount Pl NW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall at the Church. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Duncan’s service streamed live on McInnis & Holloway website on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
