Yamaha MIDI Music Computer System model CX5MII/128
Monitor and Speakers NOT included.

The CX5MII/128 was the third Yamaha MSX computer with additional memory introduced in 1985. The main difference is the presence of the SFG-05 sound module offering the ability to use a MIDI controller keyboard instead of the YK-01/10/20 series keyboards.

For DX7 users, it's still one of the best (and stylish) ways of editing patches. The CX5MII/128 has both the call music control for the SFG, and call fmv to allow patch editing on the internal synth. All CX5 software will run on it. Fundamentally, it's a Yamaha 4OP synth, so think DX100 and others.

Console has a direct keyboard port for a Yamaha YK-01, YK-10, or YK-20 keyboard (or Toshiba HX-MU901 or Panasonic FS-MKB1). This is separate from the MIDI ports. Console also has two (2) Joystick/Mouse Ports, a Printer Port, and a Cassette Tape Drive Port.
Audio Outputs include two channels (Left & Right) on the SFGII and one channel on the console for Beep sounds and TSG (Tone Sound Generator) output. All three channels are at line level and can be fed directly to a stereo amplifier.
Video Outputs include Composite Video, RGB, and RF output for use with a standard television set (channel 3 or 4). The RF output is switch-selectable for monochrome or Color output.

Hardware:

• CX5MII/128 - Console and CPU with SFGII FM Sound Synthesizer Unit.
• FD-051 - Floppy Disk Interface Cable.
• FD-05 - 3-1/2" Disk Drive (720K IBM Compatible).
• MDF1 - MIDI Data Filer Disk Drive with power adapter. - I can't fully test this because I don't have any 2.8" QD Quick Disks, but I believe it to be working good.
• Homemade MIDI Interface Cable for connecting to IBM-compatible computer running a SoundBlaster or equivalent sound card with MIDI/Joystick Port.

Software/Firmware:

• MSX Basic (Built-in). Enhanced version of MS-GWBASIC.
• YRM-502 - FM Voicing Program II ROM Pack.
• YRM-306 - DX7-II Voice Editor. This cartridge has two homemade labels on it. Either the original label fell off or a ROM copy of the cartridge was made. I suspect the latter. The labels say YRM-306 and YRM-506 but I have verified that the screenshots of the YRM-306 is what matches this cartridge. The YRM-306 is an extremely rare cartridge.
• CMW-33 - Guitar Chord Master.
• Voyetra - Sequencer Plus Pro (Missing hardware adaptor, but I think its only purpose was to allow a joystick to connect to the game port at the same time that it was being used for MIDI).
• Cakewalk Apprentice for Windows (Disk only).
